The West Cobb Baseball Association (WCBA) has great news for its 13-14
and 15-18 year old league players and their families. Last year, WCBA
formed its first ever Travel-Recreational League which proved so
successful, we are again teaming up with Acworth, East Side, Kennesaw
and Mt. Paran Park's Recreational Baseball League's for the 2017
Baseball Season!!! This innovative approach, during the 2017 Spring
Baseball Season, will allow our Rec Players to play against teams across
the area! It will be the only Travel-Recreational League in Georgia!
Games will be rotated among the various park leagues, giving our Big
Shanty Travel-Rec Players the same feel and excitement as if they played
on an elite travel team.
Travel-Rec League Advantages:
1.
Being a Travel-Rec League participant, every player will have playing
time unlike travel teams! The same rules apply and our coaches will
still be dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of baseball... Just as
we always have!
2. Our players will experience playing against
talent from other Travel-Rec Teams from other nearby geographical areas
giving them the sense of pride while representing their individual parks
and leagues! PLUS, participating players will know what it's like to
travel and play teams other than their own park's teams just as the
elite travel teams do!
3. Playing Travel-Rec Teams outside Big
Shanty will elevate player skills and get their competitive juices
flowing to play their very best! Unlike typical travel ball clubs, our
Travel-Rec Team's travel are relegated to a small geographical area as
not to burden our parents.
4. Instead of playing against the same
teams, week in and week out, at the same park, our Travel-Rec Teams
will see new teams, players, parks and competition each week! WCBA tries
to schedule out of town games on weekends while scheduling weekday
games at Big Shanty Park.
5. One of the most important advantages
is, your son/daughter will have the experience of a lifetime having the
same excitement and feel of a travel team... At Recreational League
Prices! There will NOT be an increase in registration fees for Big
Shanty's Travel-Rec parents!!!
6. While participating on an Elite
Travel Team, fees vary from $1,000 to as much as $5,000! Travel-Rec
Team's fee is only $175 in Cobb County residents and $200 for
non-residents.
Bill Jones, the WCBA President, said, "We at WCBA
felt with the vast number of competing sports; such as soccer, lacrosse
and etc., it has depleted many parks of baseball players. Therefore, by
consolidating the aforementioned parks players, coaches and resources
forming a Travel-Rec Team League, we feel we could offer a much better
baseball product and experience for our participating players and
families."
Mr. Jones went on to say, "If you are going to spend
your hard earned money registering your child to play baseball at Big
Shanty, not only you, but your child deserves the best baseball
experience available in the area."

for the 2017 Baseball has already begun. Registration closing is TBD.
Walk up registration (TBA) will be $200.00 for Cobb residents and
